Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that primarily affects the face. It is characterized by redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, and sometimes small, red, pus-filled bumps or pustules. It tends to affect the central part of the face, including the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin.
The exact cause of rosacea is unknown, but several factors are believed to contribute to its development. These include genetic predisposition, abnormalities in the blood vessels of the face, immune system dysfunction, and an overgrowth of certain bacteria in the skin. Environmental triggers such as sunlight, extreme temperatures, wind, spicy foods, alcohol, and stress can also exacerbate the condition.
Rosacea can occur in episodes or flare-ups, with symptoms varying in severity. In addition to the physical symptoms, some individuals with rosacea may experience burning or stinging sensations, dry and sensitive skin, and a thickening of the skin over time.
